POSTPONEMENT: 50th Anniversary of Closing of the Kootenay Indian Residential School

In December 2019 the Ktunaxa Nation invited your participation to join in a celebration and commemoration of the past 50 years.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Planning Team has made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone the 50th Anniversary Commemoration scheduled June 25, 26, 27 and 28, 2020. We want to do our part to limit the spread of COVID19 by taking this extra precaution. The new dates for the Commemoration are Sept 18, 19 and 20, 2020.

At the time of this letter the schedule will begin Friday, September 18th with the Ceremonies; Saturday 19th the Traditional Powwow and Sunday 20th Closing Ceremonies. The rescheduling of the St Eugene Golf Tournament has not yet been confirmed. We sincerely hope you will still be able to join us and share a message at this important event.

Thank you very much for understanding and if have any questions or comments lease contact Stella Sam, Events Coordinator at semschoolclosing50@ktunaxa.org

We wish you and your families good health and resilience as we continue to work together to get through these difficult times.

Notices will be distributed widely to all participating including the Hotels in Cranbrook who will adjust the blocks of rooms.

Huyas!
